2002 - Dead RockStar opened its doors on May 6th, at the original location on 45th Street in Fargo (Scheels wasn't built yet!). The name 'Dead RockStar' popped up at a family dinner one night. We felt it was a good culmination of the various ways and reasons why music has always been a big part of our family.
We originally sold alternative clothing, accessories, shoes and boots and body jewelry. We had one room for body piercing and one room for tattooing.
2004 - We began offering Body Branding/Scarification as a Body Art Service
We were the first and only shop in North Dakota to offer this service!
2005 - Our clothing, shoes & boots were slowly phased out as we made more room to accommodate the needs of our growing clientele
2006 - Our body piercers attended their first of many Association of Professional Piercers (APP) Conferences as a means to continue their education and knowledge of Body Piercing and all related info.
2007 - The first North Dakota shop with piercer that is a member of the
Association of Professional Piercers on staff!
2008 - We opened a 2nd location in Bismarck, ND
that was strictly tattooing & body piercing
2010 - We sold our Bismarck shop and it became 'Tailwind Tattoo'
leaving the Fargo location as the one and only Dead RockStar. During this time, we quit selling clothing & accessories and focused strictly on body art.
2012 - We celebrated 10 years of being in business and Josh Anderson, our tattoo artist, redesigned our old logo to give it a new look!
2013 - Chuck, our body piercer, contributed his knowledge of
'Cleaning, Disinfection, & Sterilization' to the 2013 edition of the
"Association of Professional Piercers" Procedure Manual www.safepiercing.org
2014 - We put on the first
' Fargo Rough Rider Tattoo Expo' at the Fargo Civic Center
Josh, our tattoo artist, designed the RoughRider Ink & Iron logo!
2015 - We helped set up and run the 2nd annual Rough Rider Tattoo Expo This time we moved it to the Scheels Arena
2016 - November: we moved the shop to it's current location,
3401 Interstate Blvd.
2017 - We added Microblading (cosmetic/eyebrow procedure) to the list of Services we offer.
2020 - During the COVID-19 pandemic, we were selected to work with the North Dakota Department of Commerce to establish procedures. policies, and protocols to put in place for a safe re-opening of ND body art shops
Thanks to all of our clients, friends and family that have supported us in the last 20 years. We really appreciate your business and loyalty. We truly have the best clients that a body art shop could ask for!
You are the reasons why we do what we do!
